Real Life Self Protection

On Saturday September the 26th 2009 in Coventry an event took place that will have a dramatic effect on the world of self-protection. Geoff Thompson’s two top instructors launched their own version of the legendry REAL COMBAT SYSTEM that was started by Geoff Thompson many years ago.

Matty Evans 5th Dan BCA and Tony Somers 5th Dan BCA gathered together 42 students for what was the first ever grading in this new system. This event was not publicised for several reasons the main one being that it did not need to be publicised. Matty and Tony have been training people in martial arts and self-protection for the last 20 years. In that time they have trained and met literally thousands of people. So when they said that they were putting a grading syllabus together the number of people who were interested in doing these gradings was over whelming.

The gradings were held over two days to accommodate the large numbers of people attending. Due to the amount of interest some people were asked to wait for the next grading on December 5th.

The standard of those people that did attend was amazing, there were black belts from the world of Judo Tai kwon do and many various other systems including Krav Maga.

The fact that people with such great pedigrees in their own systems wanted to grade in the Real Combat system was a real testament to Tony, Matty and Geoff.

So the REAL COMBAT SYSTEM was launched and although it may not have been publicised its presence will be felt through out the world of self-protection.
